Calcined Kaolin
Al₂O₃·2SiO₂
Thermally processed kaolin supplied for refractories, paper opacity, and high-performance ceramic and coating applications.
Overview
Calcined kaolin is produced by firing raw kaolin at 600–1100 °C, eliminating hydroxyl groups to create a structurally transformed alumino-silicate with enhanced hardness, whiteness, and opacity. It outperforms raw kaolin in refractory applications, coated paper, and high-brightness coatings, offering significantly reduced LOI and improved abrasion resistance.
